Openings and Their Importance | JordanCon - 2018 I was a member of a panel that provided a means for attending science fiction and fantasy authors to consider things every opening must do, beyond a great first line. Character, setting, and conflict are just the beginning. This panel was presented at the 10th annual JordanCon in Atlanta, GA. Character, Setting, Conflict, WRITE! | JordanCon - 2017 I was a member of a panel that provided a means for attending science fiction and fantasy authors to consider various methods of generating creative writing. Hower (Chair). The symposium was conducted at the annual convention of the National Council of Teachers of English in Washington, DC. Improving Students’ Writing Through Collaborative Writing Assessment | AMLE - 2009 This panel presentation with colleagues Beverly Ann Chin and Claudette Morton took place at the annual conference of the Association for Middle Level Education in Indianapolis, IN. Information was based on our teacher quality grant work during the 2007-2008 academic year in Montana. Using Prewriting Strategies to Help Students Succeed on Writing Assessments| NCTE-2008 This individual session was part of a larger symposium titled Creating Competent, Confident, Creative Writers, with Beverly Ann Chin (Chair). The symposium was conducted at the annual convention of the National Council of Teachers of English in San Antonio, TX. The information I presented had its foundation in my 2005 dissertation, which is listed in my publications. State Grants Link Writing at the 6th Grade, 11th Grade, and College Levels | CCCC - 2008 This individual session was part of a larger symposium titled Changing writing assessment: Building active collaboration among high schools and 2-year and 4-year colleges, with Jan Clinard (Chair). The symposium was conducted at the annual convention of the Conference on College Composition and Communication in New Orleans, LA. Information was based on our teacher quality grant work during the 2006-2007 academic year in Montana. |
