Work Samples and Recommendations

Below is a sample of my editing mark-ups, work done for a subsequently published novel.
  • editing sample from Immediate Dead by Blue Cole (2015). Sample pages are provided with permission.

I served as copy editor and publisher, to include design and layout, of GATEways to Teacher Education, the open-access online journal of the Georgia Association of Teacher Educators, from 2013-2019 and GATE's annual conference program from 2014-2022. Below are links to my latest editions of each:
  • GATEways Fall 2019
  • GATE 2021 Conference Program
In addition to the above publications, I designed and maintained the organization's web page from 2014-2023, available at:
  • gaate1.org

References are available upon request.

From Michele Stuart, Author (2024):
  • It's fascinating to see how [Robyn] can make a small change to a sentence and make it so much stronger than it was. I hope I can learn something from that.

From Clint Hall, Author (2022):
  • Robyn Huss has an exceptional ability to understand the heart of your story and help you take it to the next level. She doesn’t change what you’re trying to do; she makes it so much better with edits and suggestions that maintain your unique writing voice and tone. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

From the Acknowledgments of Infrared, book five of the AngelSong series, by Kevin Davis (2022):
  • Robyn Huss, my editor, takes the wrong word and finds the right one to keep what I'm trying to show and make it stronger. There are many times she'll find the right place for a sentence whether its earlier in the paragraph, later on the page, or in a different scene. Besides that, she knows where commas go. She's amazing.

From the Acknowledgments of the anthology Hidden Villains by Inkd Publishing (2022):
  • Hidden Villains would not have been possible without Editor-in-Chief Robyn Huss, who had the final decision on the best submitted stories she could bring to the anthology and made them even better. A fantastic editor, she manages to find the right way to frame the narration while keeping the author’s voice. She worked with every author to bring out their best . . .

From the Acknowledgments of Immediate Dead by Blue Cole (2015):
  • Robyn Huss is my go-to girl. An English Education professor with a sharp eye but a kind pen, Dr. Huss did the lion’s share of edits and suggestions that turned ID [Immediate Dead] from a decent draft to great copy, ready to send to the publisher. I met her at a book club . . . where she gave me pointed advice about Sleeping Sickness, my previous effort. I listened to her, and when she offered to help with ID, I jumped at the chance.
